Charge the band fully
Sit the band on its magnetic charger; there is no port to find. Let it charge all the way before the first wear. It is a charge-daily device, like a phone, so pick a spot by the bed for the charger now.
Up to 24 hours on a charge. With GPS reporting every ten minutes expect around ten hours.
Create the family account
Sign up with an email address and password, or with Google. One account is shared by the whole family, so choose the email of the person who will manage it.
Scan the QR code on the box
In the app, tap Add a band and point the camera at the QR code printed on the box. The band is claimed to your account. No Bluetooth, no pairing, no phone settings: the band works over its own 4G connection with the SIM already fitted.
Keep the box or photograph the code. It is the band's identity if you ever need support.
Add the emergency contacts
Add the people an SOS should reach, with their phone numbers and email addresses. Each of them should install the app and allow notifications, because the alert arrives as a push notification and an email.
Test SOS once, with everyone warned
Tell the family a test is coming. Press and hold the band's button for three seconds; a double buzz confirms it. Within a minute every contact should see the SOS with the band's location on the map. If someone did not get it, check their notification permission before you rely on it.
Draw a safe zone
Draw an area around home, school or the care home. The app tells you when the band leaves it and when it comes back. Start with one zone; add more once you see how the alerts feel.
Invite the rest of the family
Invite relatives and carers to the same family account. Everyone sees the same map and gets the same alerts, so nobody is the single point of failure.
What the band tells you
Vibration is the band's only feedback; it has no speaker and no screen. A double buzz confirms that an SOS has been sent. Everything else, including battery level and the last position, is shown in the app.
The first week
Five habits that make it reliable.
Charge every night. A band that starts the day full covers a school day or a working day with GPS reporting every ten minutes.
Open the app once a day and check the time of the latest position. A fresh position means the band is reporting.
Keep notifications allowed for Kavach Care on every family phone, and turn off battery saver for the app if the phone offers it.
Wear the band snug, one notch tighter than feels natural, with bare skin under the sensor. A loose band can read as removed.
Rain and handwashing are fine. Take it off before bathing or swimming; immersion testing is not complete.
Something not behaving?
The help page is organised by symptom: band shows as removed, no position indoors, an alert that did not arrive. Warranty and returns are on their own page. Or write to support@ourkavach.com with the band ID from the app.
