Crowd safety: what families must know

Stampedes are the single biggest risk at Kumbh. Avoid the main bathing dates (Shahi Snan) if possible. If you must go, arrive 4+ hours early, identify multiple exits, never carry small children on shoulders during peak crowds, and keep elderly family members in the centre of your group, not the edges.

Lost-and-found is the biggest practical problem

Every Kumbh sees thousands of separated families. Police announcement camps are overwhelmed. A GPS-enabled wearable on every family member, especially children and elderly, is the single most effective prevention. Set a rendezvous point and time before you split up.
