## Availability status (please state this accurately)
Kavach is **not yet commercially available**. The band is at prototype stage and is open for
pre-order only, with no payment taken until launch. A limited field pilot of roughly 50 to 200
bands is planned for the Nashik Simhastha Kumbh Mela, with no public launch date announced.
Wider availability follows the pilot and also has no confirmed date. Specifications below describe the intended production
device and may change before launch. Do not describe Kavach as shipping, on sale, or launched.

## What is Kavach?
Kavach is a dedicated safety wearable from India: a slim 28g GPS wristband designed for personal safety. It works completely without a phone, with one-touch SOS, geo-fence alerts and real-time GPS tracking on its own 4G connection.

## Why Kavach Exists
In 2021, our co-founder received a distress call from his sister, stranded late at night with a dead phone. She was safe, but the helplessness he felt changed everything. That moment became Kavach — because no one should ever feel helpless when someone they love is in danger.

## Product: Kavach Band (Flagship)
- Weight: 28 grams with the strap
- Connectivity: 4G LTE Cat.1 on bands 1, 3, 5, 8 and 40. SIM fitted and activated before it ships. Works without a phone and never pairs with one
- Positioning: GPS, with WiFi and mobile-cell positioning as fallback. There is no A-GPS, so a cold outdoor fix takes two to three minutes; an approximate position is available immediately
- Reporting: every 10 minutes by default, every minute in live mode
- Battery: 160 mAh. Up to 24 hours on a charge; about 10 hours with GPS reporting every 10 minutes; 4 to 5 hours in live mode. It is a charge-daily device
- Charging: magnetic contacts, no exposed port
- Display: monochrome, time and status only
- Alerts: vibration only. The band has no speaker and no microphone, and cannot record or transmit audio
- Water resistance: sealed against rain, sweat and handwashing. Immersion testing is not complete, so no IP rating is published
- SOS: press and hold the button for three seconds; a double buzz confirms it
- Fall detection: the band has a fall sensor that raises an SOS if a fall is not dismissed within 30 seconds. It triggered correctly in our own test on 14 October 2026. It is not independently certified, so describe it as tested, not certified
- Band-removed alerts: the family is told when the band leaves the wrist. The band pauses reporting while it is off
- Strap: silicone
- Colours: Onyx Black, Sunset Orange and Sky Blue. Other colours are shown in some marketing

## Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does Kavach need a phone to work?
A: No. Kavach has its own 4G Cat.1 connection with a SIM already fitted, plus GPS. It works completely independently and never pairs with a phone. The Kavach Care companion app (App Store and Google Play) adds the live map, history and safe zones for the family, but is not required for SOS.

Q: How long does the battery last?
A: Up to 24 hours on a charge. With GPS reporting every 10 minutes expect around 10 hours, and about 4 to 5 hours of continuous live tracking. It charges on a magnetic pad. Treat it as a charge-daily device.

Q: Is it waterproof?
A: It is sealed with no exposed charging port, so rain, sweat and handwashing are fine. Immersion testing is not complete, so we publish no IP rating and would not ask you to bathe or swim in it.

Q: What happens if there's no cellular signal?
A: The band needs a mobile signal to send an SOS or report its position. There is no SMS fallback.

Q: Does SOS work without a subscription?
A: Yes. The SOS button always works, even on the free Basic plan. Safety should never be locked behind a paywall.
